Length limit or usage limit?

Working with long documents
For long reports, codebases or transcripts, ask Claude to work section by section, and start each new chat with a short summary of what matters so far. That keeps each conversation well inside the limit while you keep the thread of the work.

On paid plans with code execution turned on, Anthropic says Claude can summarise earlier messages automatically as the chat nears its limit, and your full chat history is kept.
Will upgrading my plan fix this?
Not necessarily: this is about the size of one conversation, not how much you use Claude. Shortening the content or starting a new chat is the fix.
